Resumen
Descripción
In order to decrease the energy input-to-yields ratio and thus save fuel, the nation's foreign exchange expenditure, and the fishermen's operating costs, the Government of India signed an agreement with FAO under the Technical Cooperation Programme (project TCP/IND/005) to conduct experiments with fixed propeller nozzles on the existing 32 ft wooden and 17.5 m steel trawlers. Different nozzles, fixed pitch propellers, slotted blade propellers, slats to nozzles, air divertors and fins were fabric ated and tested and the bollard pull values and fuel consumption at sea registered. Recommendations on propeller nozzle applications for existing and newly designed trawlers are provided in this Technical Report.
