dc.descriptionAquatic genetic resources play a pivotal role in contributingto global food security and nutrition, as well as sustainablelivelihoods, however most FAO members have highlightedlimitations and constraints in assessing their national capacitiesto conserve, sustainably use and develop their own such resources.Recognizing the need to assist members in developing andmanaging their aquatic genetic resources, the Aquaculture Branchof FAO’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, in consultationwith the Committee on Fisheries Advisory Working Group onAquatic Genetic Resources and Technologies, agreed on the needto develop a comprehensive framework in the form of technicalguidelines.
