Since 2021, the Alliance of Bioversity International & CIAT and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) have led a Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Community of Practice to strengthen the use of digital sequence information (DSI) in the conservation of plant genetic resources. A regional needs assessment conducted in 2021 informed targeted capacity-building implemented from 2021 to 2025, addressing technical and policy barriers and contributing to regional collaboration and global policy processes on equitable DSI access.
