The expression Fish Aggregating Device -- FAO -- can be used to describe any method, object or construction used to facilitate the harvesting of the fish by attracting and thus aggregating them. Fishermen in many countries have long been aware of and utilised the fact that old branches, logs, leaves, boats etc. aggregate fish. At present techniques to attract fish - mainly tunes - to rafts are being developed in several areas. The titles listed in this document are either papers received in the course of collecting information on FAO's for a review on the subject or references from secondary sources. An asterisk against an entry indicates its availability in the BOBP Library. Since all titles listed have not been reviewed, it is difficult to assess their relevance, and this list does not claim to be either complete or comprehensive. However, it is hoped that this document will encourage those interested to further and deepen knowledge about FAO's. A list of institutions who have engaged in work on FAO's is also included.
