Resumen

Descripción

Yardage costs are a major component of the total costs of feeding cattle, and vary significantly from one producer to the next. This study collected data from Wisconsin Holstein feeders in order to calculate benchmark costs. The authors found an average yardage of $0.96, which is greater than most producers would expect. There was significant variability in yardage costs across all participants, demonstrating the extreme importance that cattle finishers calculate their own costs and evaluate them for their strengths and areas where improvements can be made.
