dc.descriptionU.S. agricultural exports accelerated to $29.8 billion during the first 9 months of c, fiscal year 1984 (October 1983-June 1984), 12-percent above year-earlier values, despite lower volumes. U.s. agricultural imports during the first 9 'months, at $14 billion, moved 13 percent above.year-earlier levels, despite lower values in June. High U.S. interest rates pushed the U.s. dollar higher against all major foreign currencies during May and June. Improved trade, stemming from economic recovery in industrialized countries, will spur revenues in developing countries., East Asia could become a larger u.s. agricultural export market than Western Europe in 1984.
