The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Emergency Management Centre is a global centre that supports the management of One Health emergencies such as animal health and plant health. Through emergency management support, the Centre contributes to FAO’s mandate by helping to protect the livelihoods of vulnerable communities. This publication is a summary of the activities and achievements carried out by the FAO Emergency Management Centre between November 2022 and October 2023. During this reporting period, the Emergency Management Centre supported countries to reach optimum levels of emergency preparedness through trainings, workshops and by implementing its preparedness toolbox, thereby strengthening the emergency management capacity in countries around the world. This translates to over 60 stakeholders from veterinary, public health, law enforcement and environmental services being trained in emergency preparedness and management. Due to the success of the Centre's preparedness and emergency management tools, they are in the process of being adapted to plant health and other sectors in order to extend the support and services provided by the FAO Emergency Management Centre.
