This is the final report of the Third APFIC Regional Consultative Forum Meeting on Balancing the Needs of People and Ecosystems in Fisheries and Aquaculture Management in Asia and the Pacific Region, convened in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea from 1 to 4 September 2010. Forum participants came to the meeting to develop and reach consensus on ways of implementing policies and action plans designed to address the major issues for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors in the region. These issues in clude strengthening ecosystem-based fisheries resource management, responding to climate change, ensuring livelihoods and food security, particularly with reference to small-scale fishers, responding to the institutional demands of globalization in the form of increasing regulation of products destined for export markets, combating illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing, and gender equity.
