dc.descriptionThe electronic newsletter from the FAO Representation in Georgia features the following articles: 1. Mikheil Sokhadze, the National Team leader of FAO’s project on National Animal Identification and Tracebility System (NAITS), discusses slaughterhouses and food safety. Since 2016, FAO has been assisting the National Food Agency of Georgia to implement National Animal Identification and Traceability System (NAITS), under which animals have been marked with ear tags and mandatory vaccination programmes have been conducted. 2. EU supports Agrarian Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia in arranging meetings in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The Agrarian Affairs Committee meeting led by Chairman Mr. Otar Danelia was held in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The field visit was supported by European Union in a close partnership with FAO under European Neighborhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD). 3. FAO expert: Reducing food waste would improve global climate, local economy. As a FAO study revealed food waste at the household/consumer level is low in the poorest regions of the world (around 10 kg per capita annually), and significant in high-income coun-tries, where over 100 kg of food is lost or wast-ed per person every year.
