The inaugural issue of the FAO Kyrgyzstan Newsletter (January–March 2025) highlights key developments in agricultural cooperation and sustainable development. A major bilateral meeting between FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, Viorel Gutu and Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev emphasized strengthening collaboration in sustainable agriculture and rural development. Another milestone was the launch of the Green Agriculture Initiative, with Kyrgyzstan as a pilot country, aiming to advance eco-friendly farming, reduce environmental harm, and enhance food security. Additional updates cover FAO project achievements in climate-smart agriculture, seed production, and food safety, including capacity-building efforts such as vegetable seed production trainings and farmer field schools to improve yields and resilience. The RuralInvest toolkit further aided farmers in business development and market access, underscoring FAO’s multifaceted support for Kyrgyz agriculture.
