As a regional fisheries management organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ (FAO) General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) works to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of marine living resources and the sustainable development of aquaculture in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. This project was designed to conclude selected activities of the GFCM mid-term strategy (2017–2020) and further operationalize the GFCM subregional approach, while underpinning the development and launch of the post-2020 framework for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in the region.
