Vietnam has been at the forefront of the battle against avian influenza since 2003. International agencies have used the response to H5N1 avian influenza by the Government of Vietnam (GoV) as an example of the successes that can be achieved in control of this disease. The lessons from Vietnam are extremely valuable for other countries dealing with similar crises.
