El objetivo de esta investigación fue seleccionar, implementar y evaluar participativamente alternativas agroforestales para el cultivo de palmito (Bactris gasipaes H.B.K.), en tierras de ladera del Silencio en el Asentamiento Neguev, Limón, Costa Rica. Se evaluó el efecto agroecológico, factibilidad económica y la aceptación sociocultural de la introducción del cultivo del maíz (Zea mays L.) y del caupí (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) asociado al palmito joven
dc.descriptionThe objective of this research was to select, implement and evaluate participatively agroforestry alternatives for the production of palmheart (Bactris gasipaes H.B.K.) on hillslopes of the Silencio section of the Neguev settlement in Limón, Costa Rica. The agroecological effect, economic feasibility and sociocultural acceptance of the introduction of the introduction of maize (Zea mays L.) and of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) associated with young palmheart and of the organic fertilization and the use of Arachis pintoi Prine as a living cover in adult palmhear plantations were evaluated. The study consisted of two phases, the first in which workshops were set up in accordance with Participative Rural Diagnosis Methodologies and a second, in which two experimental designs were executed with the participation of four farmers.
