Based on FAO field surveys in 24 African countries in 2018 and 2019, it was found that more than 200 synthetic pesticide products were applied against FAW, some of which have severe human health or environment effects. This FAW guidance note on Synthetic Pesticides Risk Reduction aims at raising awareness of the risks of the synthetic pesticides which identified used in Africa against FAW, and provides information on risk mitigation measures to reduce the risk to human health or the environment from the use of these synthetic pesticides.
