Descripción
The morphology of seeds of the balsa tree (Ochroma lagopus Sw) is described, emphasizing the structure of the seed coat, endosperm and embryo. The waterproof tegument of the seed coat is formed by a palisade layer of sclereids with the characteristic ´light line´ of other species wich present tegumentary dormancy.
