The World Water Day (WWD) is held on 22 March every year since 1993. WWD celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of SDG 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. The WWD is coordinated by UN-Water, the UN’s coordination mechanism for water and sanitation. FAO is part of the Coordination Task Force for the organization of the WWD 2021. FAO is also hosting the main worldwide event – the pivot event - of the celebration of the WWD that will be held virtually on 22 March 2021, on behalf of UN Water. This is the save the date of the celebration of the WWD.
