dc.descriptionAt present, we have proven the existence of heartwater by isolating cowdria in Guadeloupe, Marie-Galante and Antigua. Recent serological surveys showed the existence of Cowdria antibodies in the sera of cattle and goats from islands where the disease is not clinically suspected. This is the case for Monsterrat, Martinique and Dominica, and even in islands, like Grenada, where the disease cannot be established because of the absence of the tick vector En la actualidad, hemos probado la existencia de heartwater aislando cowdria en Guadalupe, Marie-Galante y Antigua. Estudios serológicos recientes mostraron la existencia de anticuerpos de Cowdria en el suero de bovinos y caprinos de islas donde no se sospecha clínicamente de la enfermedad. Este es el caso de Monsterrat, Martinica y Dominica, e incluso en islas, como Granada, donde la enfermedad no se puede establecer debido a la ausencia del vector de la garrapata.
