Agriculture plays a significant role in the economy of Myanmar and is the major source of income and employment for the nation’s largely rural-based population. Agriculture is primarily based on smallholder production systems, with livestock-raising an integral part of all smallholder production systems. The project aimed to sustainably improve the livelihoods and food security of poor and vulnerable communities in six townships in the Central Dry Zone of Myanmar by strengthening livestock health, productivity and marketing.
