| dc.description | An FAO team – in partnership with other development institutions and member countries – recently explored the concept of social protection for forest-dependent people through a global literature review and country case studies in Burkina Faso, China and Uganda. The objective of the side event is to present and discuss the findings of the case studies and best practices in order to draw lessons, identify issues through which social protection could foster sustainable forest resource management an d resilient livelihoods, and to enhance social protection systems to empower forest dependent communities and their organizations. | |
