As a regional fisheries management organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)’s General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) works to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of marine living resources and the sustainable development of aquaculture in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. This project was designed to operationalize the GFCM 2030 strategy for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (GFCM 2030 strategy) adopted in 2021.
