dc.descriptionRESUMO - Conhecimentos das relações entre as plantas aquáticas e os tipos de ambientes são importantes para manejo e conservação desses recursos naturais, bem como para outras disciplinas, como pecuária, fauna, ictiologia, limnologia e ecologia. Com base em anotações de coleta de material botânico e observações de campo, foi elaborada uma tabela das macrófitas aquáticas do Pantanal e seus ambientes característicos, descritos qualitativamente quanto ao tipo de corpo d’água (rio, corixo, vazante, lagoa e outros), nível de nutrientes (baixo, médio, alto), textura de solo, e eventuais condições relativas ao estário sucessional e ao manejo. Na mesma família ou gênero podem haver espécies de ambiente lêntico, outras de lótico, ou espécies de solo fértil e congêneres de solo ácido. Macrófitas aquáticas de famílias com forma biológica uniforme tendem a ocorrer nas mesmas fases de sucessão, como Lemnaceae e Salviniaceae, flutuantes livres, em estádios pioneiros, enquanto as de famílias com formas variadas, de anfíbias a submersas, como Onagraceae e Poaceae, estão presentes em todos os estádios. Foram levantadas 273 espécies de 110 gêneros e 55 famílias. Conclui-se que a distribuição de macrófitas aquáticas no Pantanal é heterogênea, havendo espécies exclusivas de certos hábitats, enquanto outras são de ocorrência ampla. ABSTRACT - Information on plant-environment type relations are important for management and conservation of natural resources, and in the case of aquatic plants also for other matters, like animal husbandry, fauna, fishery, limnology and ecology. Based on field observation records of botanical collections, a table of aquatic macrophytes of the Pantanal wetland was elaborated, with their characteristic environments, qualitatively described concerning type (river, drainage line, oxbow, pond, etc), nutrient level (low, medium, high), soil texture, and eventual conditions related to successional stage and management. In the same family or genus there can be species of stillwater habitats, others of flowing water, or species of fertile soil and congeneric ones of acid soil. Aquatic macrophytes of families with uniform life form tend to occuor in the same successional phases, e. g. Lemnaceae and Salviniaceae, free floating, in pioneer stages, while families with varying forms, from amphibious to submerged, like Onagraceae and Poaceae, are present in all stages. 273 species of 110 genera and 55 families were considered. It is concluded that the distribution of aquatic macrophytes in the Pantanal is heterogeneus, there being species which are exclusive to certain habitats, while others have wide occurrence.
