| dc.description | Gender inequalities and malnutrition are inextricable parts of the vicious cycle of poverty and food insecurity. Gender inequality in agrifood systems contribute to hunger rise and malnutrition. Thus, gender inequality can be also the cause of undernutrition, both acute and chronic. There is growing emphasis on agrifood systems transformation for improving nutrition, reducing poverty and food insecurity. It is important to consider gender equality at all stages of nutrition-sensitive agrifood systems from production, harvesting, processing, marketing and consumption to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). | |
