ICA has to transfer the generated technology of its investigations to different customers, as one of its major functions. In the same way, to tend for the use of improved materials to increase the agricultural production and productivity. For this reason we must to know: a) if the denomination of the improved materials is recalled and used for the farmers which could help to obtain these materials; b) if the customers really are agree with the denomination given by ICA to the improved materials, or if it puts up with confusion among materials with similar names, and c) which factors should take into account for the denomination. The present investigation was carried out in 1986 at national level with a sample of 400 opinion poll. The highest proportion of the informants are using more than one crop, generally rice, cotton and sorghum in hot climate, and they are also who make more use of the genetic improved material; those of mean and cold climate are mainly using native materials of corn, vegetables and fruits. In generally, 85% of the infomants are agree with the denomination that ICA gives to these materials; 40% of them request by its complete name, whereas 45% solicit them by its partial name, or simply request improved material. The farmers are confused when several materials present similar names, mainly due to forgeffulness of numbers or letters that are added to, and also due to the lack in information or divulgation.
