dc.descriptionThis final evaluation examines the project "Towards Sustainable Management of the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem - Initial support to the strategic action progrramme". The project's objective was to "create favorable conditions for the effective implementation of the Strategic Action Programme (SAP) for the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem". The project played a crucial role in establishing these favorable conditions for SAP implementation. It achieved several milestones aimed at fostering future collaboration among institutions, including recommendations for the establishment of a governance body, a financing strategy, a regional operational plan for SAP implementation, and operational plans for each of the seven beneficiary coastal states, as well as a training module for coastal communities on the ecosystem approach to fisheries management.
