Resumo: O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Pau-preto, Parambu, CE, com o objetivo de determinar os efeitos da manipulacao da vegetacao lenhosa da caatinga e do pastoreio multiplo sobre o ganho de peso de caprinos nativos. Os tratamentos principais consistiram de caatinga nativa, caatinga rebaixada e caatinga raleada, e os subtratamentos, as combinacoes com bovinos, com ovinos e com bovinos e ovinos, incluindo o pastoreio solteiro de caprinos. Os resultados permitem concluir que, na caatinga, os caprinos devem ser criados em patoreio solteiro ou combinados com bovinos e que o rebaixamento e o raleamento constituem as melhores tecnicas de manipulacao da vegetacao para esses ruminantes. [Multiple grazing on manipulated caatinga in Ceara Sertao. II – Caprine performance] Abstract: The experiment was conducted at Fazenda Pau-preto, on Parambu county, CE, with the objective of determining the effects of the manipulation of the woody vegetation of the caatinga and of the multiple grazing on the weight gain of young native goats. The main treatments consisted of native caatinga, lowered caatinga, and thinned caatinga, and the subtreatments were the combination with cattle, with sheep, and with cattle and sheep, besides the sole grazing by goats. The results support the conclusion that goats can be raised under sole grazing or in combination with cattle, on lowered or thinned caatinga vegetation
