The authors would like to express their appreciation to the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, Lagos, notably the Director Mr. J.G. Tobor for support and cooperation as well as for releasing his staff for the project. Sincere recognition is extended to the Assistant Director of Marine Resources, Dr. T.O. Ajayi for his encouragement, substantial support and technical advice especially during the phase of data collection and analyzing.
