Sustainable development cannot be achieved without resilient livelihoods. FAO assists countries to increase the resilience of households, communities and institutions by helping them to effectively prevent and cope with threats and disasters that impact agriculture, food security and nutrition. To resume agricultural production after emergencies, farmers need to be seed secure. Seed security assessments are a tool for better planning of seed related interventions, and therefore contribute to sup port agricultural recovery effectively. Capacity building measures are often necessary to allow countries implement sound seed security assessments. Dissemination of findings and adoption of recommendations are also key elements of the emergency response.
