The revised International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides [1] (further referred to as the Code of Conduct) represents an updated, globally-accepted standard of conduct relating to the distribution and use of pesticides.
Adopted in 2002, the revisions to the Code of Conduct have strengthened its guidance to reduce the adverse effects of pesticides on health and the environment and to support sustainable agricultural practices.
Among other changes, the revised Code of Conduct contains important new provisions on monitoring and observance. Under Article 12, all stakeholders are invited to monitor and report on implementation of the Code of Conduct. Other provisions call upon governments and industry to collect and report on various types of information relating to pesticides.
