The publication on “The Geography of food: reconnecting with origin in the food system” created in conjunction with the 31st Brussels Development Briefing (May 2013), provides an overview and analysis of origin-linked products, including geographic indications (GIs), and their potential to transform their ACP countries’ agricultural sectors and economies.
This publication provides an extensive overview of the systems, frameworks, instruments and institutions underpinning the protection of origin-linked products globally and in the ACP. It provides data on the socio-economic value, social and territorial dynamics, biodiversity and traditional knowledge contained in origin-linked products and GIs as well as consumers perceptions.
