| dc.description | Cereal prices have tended to decline in some markets, but wheat prices in Khartoum are rising and are well above international prices. Growing insecurity and political tension are an increasing concern and are limiting humanitarian agencies' ability to offer assistance to people in need. Despite the prospects of a good harvest, different agencies agree that food security conditions remain serious and some 6.4 million people require food assistance. Government is engaged in fighting s everal rebel militias in different parts of the country, and has reduced its involvement in agricultural development schemes. | |
