The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) publishes a quarterly report on the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) situation, based on information sources which include databases such as Emergency Prevention System for Animal Health (EMPRES-AH)/Joint FAO–WHO–WOAH Global Early Warning System for health threats and emerging risks at the human–animal–ecosystems interface (GLEWS+), EMPRES Global Animal Disease Information System (EMPRES-i), World Animal Health Information Database (WOAH WAHID) and World Reference Laboratory for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (WRLFMD). The other sources used are the FAO/EuFMD supported FMD networks (EARLN-FMD Eastern Africa, RESOLAB-FMD West Africa), FAO/EuFMD projects and field officers and the Emergency Management Centre-Animal Health (EMC-AH). This quarterly report includes news from FMD outbreaks around the world, overview and analyses of virus pools, vaccine matching, sample data and submissions as well as FMD publications, recommendations and round-up of EUFMD and WRLTPI events.
