dc.descriptionWith high annual population growth rates, increasing urbanization and slow growth in domestic food production, the gap between aggregate consumption and domestic production of food in the Near East and North Africa Region (NENA)1 is likely to continue to widen. The key challenge in the years to come will be to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population in the context of increasingly scarce natural resources and climate change.
