In response to the unacceptable and chronic problems of food insecurity, malnutrition and hunger in the Horn of Africa (HOA), participants in a subregional workshop, Ending Hunger in the Horn of Africa: Moving from Rhetoric to Action, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in October 2017, recommended that a High-Level Panel on Food Nutrition and Security (HLPFNS) be established at regional level in the HOA. In addition, it was proposed that Food and Nutrition Security(FNS) champions be identified at various levels – including community, subcounty, county, country and regional – to serve as a rallying point in intensifying political and financial commitments and sensitizing communities about food and nutrition insecurity.
