The paper presents a comparison of the costs of strawberries and sour cherries plant protection in
conventional and organic cultivation carried out on twenty one fruit growing farms in Poland. The differences
in the input of materials, labour and machinery were studied in three provinces: Mazovia, Lubelskie and
Łódzkie in the period 2009-2013. It was found that in the years 2009-2013 to a greater extent increased
production costs of conventional cherries and strawberries than the cost of organic production of these
species. The costs in the production of conventional protecting cherries increased during this period by
128.1% and 38.9% strawberry, while in organic production, respectively 31.0% and 73.5.
