This Livelihood Support Programme (LSP) Working Paper is the result of a follow-up on an extensive research study undertaken in Cambodia. Results of the study were the development of a participatory and results-oriented monitoring methodology and suggestions to overcome basic communication gaps between the rural population and decision makers on different administrative levels. The aim of this LSP Working Paper is to provide a simple and hands-on insight into the developed methodology and the su ggested strategies to overcome the identified communication gaps. It should therefore serve as a guideline for practitioners who wish to apply a participatory and results-oriented monitoring methodology in their various project contexts. The general framework and results described in this LSP Working Paper reflect the unique situation of coastal Cambodia. Nevertheless, the described methodology can easily be adapted to other circumstances. The specific focus of the Cambodian research study was o n agricultural activities and on poverty and food security. Adaptations for other contexts will need some amendments of the methodology and procedure. Anybody with experience in participatory monitoring and evaluation will find it easy to adjust the process for other circumstances.
