Descripción
The Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem provides food and livelihoods for millions of people. It features important critical habitats such as mangroves, coral reefs and seagrass beds.
The eight countries surrounding the Bay of Bengal - Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand - committed themselves to work together through the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) Project to better the lives of coastal communities through improved regional management of the Bay of Bengal environment and its fisheries.
