Some 30% of the population is considered food insecure. IDPs are experiencing the worst conditions and are being assisted by WFP with food transfers. Different agencies describe a situation of alarming hunger with very high levels of undernourishment. Civil insecurity is the main cause of food insecurity as people have no access to agricultural land to produce their food requirements and market activities are constrained throughout the country. Support is provided to the population by inte rnational agencies.
