| dc.description | This is the final report of the twenty-ninth session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21 to 23 August 2006. Major topics discussed included (i) the status and potential of fisheries and aquaculture in Asia and the Pacific, (ii) selected issues of regional importance including the increasing amount of low value/trash fish as a percentage of total marine capture and a co-management approach to fisheries involving a partnership between government an d local communities, (iii) policy challenges and emerging issues in the region and (iv) and the work plan for the next biennium. | |
