The longstanding collaboration between the Land Portal and FAO on AGROVOC continues with the co-publication around the purpose and use of LandVoc. LandVoc is a land governance thesaurus and is also a specialized subscheme within AGROVOC. The publication will treat the broader themes of metadata and open data in order to reach a more general audience for presenting LandVoc and AGROVOC. The publication will further tie these issues together through a discussion of how structured metadata is integral for open data to support innovation and improvements in land administration. Though the publication’s discussion of these issues will be anchored around open data, it will note the many additional applications for LandVoc and other structured vocabularies.
