With the object of contributing to the knowledge of the development of the vegetation in primary successions originated from the depositions of volcanic materials, the following investigation took place in the Pacaya Volcano National Park and the Calderas Lagoon. To make the following study four sites were identified to take samples. Three of the sites have been disturbed by volcanic eruptions, and one witness was used as reference to compare, and it was located in an are that has not been affected. The following variables were evaluated: density, trunk diameter and height. In the PNVP-LC the perturbations provoked by the volcanic activity are determining factors that affect and modify the vegetation patterns of the successions in each stage of the primary succession. This effect decreases as each succession advances in time, as long as there are no other perturbance.
