In 2025, IICA supported Panama through initiatives focused on agricultural health, productive transformation, innovation, sustainability, and rural digitalization. Together with MIDA, ANAGAN, and the Panama–United States Commission, it strengthened national capacities for the prevention, detection, control, and eradication of New World screwworm through training, sanitary inputs, expanded surveillance, and institutional coordination. IICA also contributed to the Integral Project for Productive Transformation and Territorial Value Addition in Bocas del Toro, covering cacao, plantain, banana, roots and tubers, fruits, rural roads, farmer field schools, and value addition. It further supported plant health planning, food safety action plans for agro-industrial MSMEs, the redesign of the National Bioethanol Program, and the strengthening of a controlled-environment agriculture research center. A key achievement was the consolidation of NAMA Rice, which surpassed 5,000 hectares, increased profitability, and promoted traceability, producer organization, and women’s participation.
