IICA has supported Jamaica’s agricultural development for five decades through comprehensive actions that have strengthened agricultural health, food safety, climate resilience, and sector competitiveness. Its contributions include the modernization of crop and livestock production systems, post-disaster recovery support, institutional capacity building, improved access to markets and international trade, and the promotion of technological innovation. IICA has also fostered stronger linkages between agriculture and tourism, territorial development, and the inclusion of rural youth and women. In the current context of climate change, globalization, and digital transformation, IICA continues to promote sustainable, resilient, and innovative agricultural systems that contribute to food security, rural employment, and Jamaica’s economic development.
