Descripción

Our vision at FAO is to embrace a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. The FAO Knowledge Strategy has a focused approach to cultivate and systematically embrace knowledge sharing in FAO. The Knowledge Strategy has two objectives which aim to shift FAO from its traditional role as a knowledge provider to a one where it facilitates access to, and flow of, information and knowledge. 1. Striking the right balance - The first Strategy objective is to improve the balance and integra tion between FAO’s efforts to produce needed information and knowledge, and its efforts to facilitate access to and flow of needed information and knowledge. 2. Spreading the word - The second Strategy objective is to increase the adoption of information and knowledge sharing concepts, methods and tools by FAO managers and teams. The Knowledge Sharing Team works like a comprehensive solutions provider. It builds on solid foundations to strengthen individual staff, groups or communities and facilitates interactions among external partners and stakeholders. It delivers on the Strategy’s goals through the following activities: (i) Organizing Knowledge Share Fairs which bring together FAO’s partners and stakeholders to exchange ideas; (ii) Providing training, guidance and support to strengthen the sharing of ideas and information in online and face-to-face networks and communities; (iii) Providing support and facilitation to enable better knowledge sharing within FAO; (iv) Devel oping staff skills through training in core competencies related to knowledge sharing; (v) Promoting a healthy exchange of ideas, practical know-how and good practices through internal communities of practice such as the Knowledge Café. The fact sheets below give you an overview of all these activities.
