The BN3 (Safe food for All) technical intervention strategy for the 2026–2027 biennium serves as a guiding framework for FAO’s technical action areas related to food safety in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Its purpose is to provide coherent and coordinated guidance for technical interventions in response to current and emerging food safety challenges. The document adopts a comprehensive approach to agri-food safety, considering the interrelationships within the food chain and the role of National Food Safety Systems as governance pillars for the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, regulations, programs, and food safety measures throughout the chain. Within this framework, the document emphasizes the need to strengthen coordination between food safety policies and those related to public health, animal and plant health, the environment, and agri-food trade, thereby promoting the institutionalization of the One Health approach and a holistic, participatory response to food safety risks.
