In the Central African Republic, over half of the population is expected to be acutely food insecure during the lean season (May–August) – a 27-percent increase compared with last year’s projection. The majority of food-insecure families live in rural areas and depend on agriculture for their food and income. FAO requires USD 45 million to assist 1.08 million people to quickly restore their agricultural livelihoods and generate income.
