MedSea4Fish is the GFCM capacity development programme for the Mediterranean Sea. Its main objective is to work with member countries to address national and regional fishery priorities – scientific, economic, social and environmental – in the journey towards a sustainable future. The first MedSea4Fish biennium saw the consolidation of the organigram, structure and functioning of the programme, the elaboration of the first national plans framing on-the-ground implementation, the operationalization of field activities and the set-up of reporting mechanisms. MedSea4Fish successfully delivered on its ambition to streamline capacity development in fisheries and allow for a more integrated and solid process to support the formulation of scientific advice within the GFCM.
