dc.descriptionFAO updates the employment indicators in FAOSTAT each year, using data from the International Labour Organization (ILO) ILOSTAT database that contains a rich set of indicators from a wide range of topics related to labour statistics. FAOSTAT disseminates 18 indicators on employment in agriculture and in rural areas. According to the latest data, employment in agriculture, forestry and fishing declined globally from 1 billion people in 2000 to 873 million people in 2021.
