dc.descriptionThe conclusions and recommendations are presented of 2 missions conducted during the period 29 May to 15 September 1997, in the framework of a project to promote aquaculture in rural areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (India), and in northern areas of Pakistan. Major activities included: 1) the design and implementation of a training programme for staff extension workers and farmers, including production of training manuals and information materials; 2) establishment of hatcheries and demonstration farms of the project; 3) establishment of contacts with the private sector and supervision of the establishment of private fish farm; and, 4) assessment of the possibilities of introducing warmwater fisheries in Northern Areas of Pakistan and provision of advice on the improvement of existing coldwater fisheries production.
