Over the past decade, FAO has executed a number of projects related to protected areas. This has afforded the Organization unique oportunities to accumulate knowledge on the surveying, planning, establishment, development and management of national parcs and various other categories of reserves. This involvement has been at both regional and country levels and covered national systems of protected areas as well as detailed work in individual parcs or reserves.
