Resumen
Descripción
This publication presents a community-driven assessment of Houy La, an agrarian village in Oudomxay Province, Lao PDR, where 187 households face growing climate threats, including seasonal droughts, flooding, and pest outbreaks. The profile documents local agricultural systems, rice, maize, cassava, para-rubber, and livestock—and their vulnerability to climate shocks. Through extensive community engagement, it identifies key barriers to adopting climate-smart agriculture (CSA), such as financial constraints and knowledge gaps, while mapping available support from development partners. The publication offers context-specific CSA solutions, including drought-resistant varieties, integrated pest management, improved fodder systems, and agroforestry, to build resilience, enhance productivity, and guide future interventions toward a more sustainable farming future for Houy La.
